Auxiliary Cruiser The "Loudoun"

This little cruiser is designed with a fishing boat or working boat flavor.

The separation of the two cabins and the high bulwark, allows for the full use of the deck in complete safety.

The aft cabin with a 6’6” headroom is the pilot house which also contains a small galley, a settee, and on the aft end, the head.

All the windows in the pilot house can open and have screens. The sliding doors are mounted on wheels.
The double windshield can crank out to allow good ventilation when needed.

The small cabin in front contains two berths and storage space. This cabin also has two opening windows with screens.

The entrance of the cabin is through a booby hatch. It’s very practical since even when open the rain won’t wet the berth down below.

The small sail area is perfect for tempering the rolling or a good breeze can be of some help to save fuel.

The mast is mounted on a tabernacle, making the raising and lowering of the mast easier. The boom can be used to put an awning, making the deck a perfect place to enjoy the day.

The 9.8Hp outboard is hidden by the counter stern. The access is from the head. Opening the large deck hatch on the aft deck gives full access to the engine.

From there a door gives access to the head, complete with a ceramic corner sink and a toilet. Under the toilet is a large countenance holding tank.

The deck is watertight and self bailing. The trunk cabin is built on top of this deck. The aluminum windows, which slide up to open have screens. The forepeak which is accessed by a hatch under the helm, is large enough for a good amount of storage space.

The Loudoun is powered by a 9.8 hp 4 cycle outboard, hidden in the counter stern, where the aluminum gas tank is located.

A CD with all the pictures taken during the construction is provided with the plans.
